Comic Books 101
Book Illustration For Kids

Vincy Lim is a Chinese-Canadian non-binary sapphic disabled illustrator and award winning cartoonist whose work revolves around the themes of self-love, queerness, disability, and abuse. Through graphic memoirs and fictional stories grounded in the realities of today’s marginalized groups, Vincy produces works that emphasize on loving yourself, healing, and the recovery process.

They currently are an artist facilitator at Story Planet for kids and are the creator of the 10 session workshop, “My Monsters Hold Me Soft,” a healing through trauma through comics making workshop for queer disabled young adults. Vincy also teaches at Create Art Studio for a variety of various classes such as comics, beginner’s acrylic painting, and book illustration.

Some of Vincy’s achievements include: third place in running long jump in fifth grade out of a total of 5 applicants; being attacked by 12 pre-school children while running at full speed; commanding a group of 30 birds to follow them for a short walk; and a particularly terrible conservation with a sassy duck.

Vincy has also won an award for most improved in Chinese School. They do not currently know Chinese as most people can testify.

The minute I held my first pencil, a big chunky red one my teacher gave me, and drew my first line, I thought I created magic! Now years later as an award winning cartoonist, I haven’t stopped creating magic since!

The Earth without ‘art’ is just eh.
